I was glad to FINALLY see a new/updated version of this book. INDISPENSABLE. I've done everything from remodel my house, build a deck & refinish the basement so I have a lot of D-I-Y knowledge and I can't tell you the number of times I've referred to this book "just to be sure" or if I was confronted with an issue I wasn't expecting (any d-i-y'er will tell you SOMETHING will always come up unexpectedly that's the nature of the remodel/renovate business). to sum it up in ONE word,. I've had the previous version (for over 10 yrs since the last printing of it). Worth every penny.
New Fix-It-Yourself Manual: How to Repair, Clean, and Maintain Anything and Everything In and Around Your Home This book is out of date. It does not even have front loading washers and the computer is in a land fill most likely. What it does have is well done , but this book needs to be updated. Don
Friends gave me the 1973 version for Christmas. Now our oldest son is buying his first home. I have used it ever since, for the remodeling of several homes that we bought. I couldn't have done without it. He couldn't own this house without this book. It is an absolute MUST for every homeowner who wants to do a bit of work around the house.
This product arrived a bit roughed up. Otherwise, everything was great. the binding was broken when I received it. I think it must have happened during shipping because the outside of the package was a bit torn up as well. It arrived in good time. Thank you.
There is an interesting story behind this purchase - brother-in-law bought the book for his son, just couldn't stop reading it. My sister suggested we buy him the book for Christmas. My husband saw the book when it arrived, and almost couldn't part with it, so my son ordered one for his dad. Not too many "gifts" are so useful and interesting, that everybody who sees it wants one of their own.
